..a comedy that draws some of its finest time-tested humor from the nuances of a woman trying to pass as a man. Lisa Anne Porter does well by those nuances. Her Viola is delectably funny and poignant.Robert Hurwitt- San Francisco Chronicle (for Twelfth Night)
She's sharp as a tack and brimming with playful sexuality. Her throaty laughter is infectious.Christiane Carman, Sentinel
Porter does a beautiful job of growing in the role, gaining gravity and depth without loosing her comic edge.San Francisco Examiner
It's the much more quick-thinking, resourceful Suzanne (the captivatingly perky, ingenious Lisa Anne Porter) who saves the day.Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Examiner
In the scene stealing role of the maid Louise... Lisa Anne Porter enters with a pratfall worthy of Buster Keaton. All her lines in Plausible French win laughs.James MacKillop, Syracuse New Times
Lisa Anne Porter adds perfect spice to the Saucy Suzanne in Shakespeare Santa Cruz's 'Marriage of Figaro.Mark de La Vina, San Jose Mercury
Lisa Porter is a striking actress who manages to blend masculine and feminine aspects into a charismatic whole. Her clear understanding of the character, strong diction and assured presence make her credible in the male role.Robert Nesti, Boston Herald
On the surface, the most unusual thing about Boston Theatre Works' production of 'The Taming of the Shrew' is its all-female cast - and that beauty of that is it doesn't feel like a gimmick...One particular element justifies the casting: the irresistibly charismatic Lisa Porter as Petruchio.Vladimir Zelevinsky, Boston Globe
Porter is especially good; in fact, all her performances this season at California Shakespeare have been nothing short of splendid.Kerry Reid, Backstage West
The Salesman is smitten. As embodied by Lisa Anne Porter, it's no wonder. Her Becky is all contradictions; sexy and vulnerable, scared and aggressive.Chad Jones, Oakland Tribune
Lisa Anne Porter is magnetic as the focal point of most of the modernism, portraying Julie, disguised as Fredric, with captivating comic-poignant bravado, weakness, determination, vacillation and cold fury.Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle
When a new, untenured faculty director premieres a show you know it pretty well has to knock your eyes out. That is what Lisa Anne Porter does with William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Her Dream is a feast, filled with high and low jinks, spooky supernaturalism, laugh-out-loud spoof and joyous eroticism. Although there are 22 standout performances, it's the overall conception that pulls you out of your seat... For all the razzmatazz in the production values, director Porter always honors the dialogue first... Porter's handling of a student ensemble is precisely timed perfection.James MacKillip, Syracuse New Times (for A Midsummer Night's Dream)
'A Midsummer Night's Dream', directed by Lisa Anne Porter, is sumptuous, a sweeping, action-filled show that fully catches the play's light comic spirit along with its darker side - a fusion of waking and dream that leaves the characters teetering between reason and fantasy.Neil Novelli, the Post-Standard (for A Midsummer Night's Dream)
Between the play's 1993 premiere and the turn of the century, i probably saw 'Picasso' a dozen times and almost knew it by heart. And while all that familiarity didn't breed contempt, it did breed a sort of numbing familiarity that made me lose my appreciation of the show's mad comic genius. Since then, though, I hadn't seen the play until catching Town Hall Theatre's dazzling production last weekend. The show was not only well done, it also proved the piece has legs and remains as meaningful as it was in 1993... Porter's direction moves things along quickly, yet gives the illusion of lingering on portions worthy of some pause for thought.Pat Craig, The Mercury News (for Picasso at the Lapin Agile)
